I’m putting this on the menu this week because it highlights my oldest sister Susie – from Joplin, Missouri. I don’t believe there is a nicer or friendlier town in the country and I am not exaggerating. Susie is 9 years older than me, so it’s safe to say that at some point in my summer growing up we made a trip out there. The people were SO excited to entertain us and we loved it. And boy could they cook! Gooey Butter cake is really from St. Louis, but Joplin is close enough to take credit.
